Venoor Parsih History
Christ the King Church was established in the year 1937, back then Venur was an erstwhile ward of Holy Cross Church Thakode. Late Rev. Fr. Korti had built chapels in places like Peradi and Moodkodi but Venur was lacking in a chapel. With the help of local Christian leaders the then parish priest of Thakode Rev. Fr. A. H. Dsilva started to build a chapel in Venur but it was completed by Rev. Fr. A. P. Dsouza which was dedicated to Christ the King and inaugurated in June 1931. Due to the increase of catholic families as well as attending the spiritual needs of the people was most essential. Even Thakode was far away as a result the Bishop of Mangalore decided to establish an independent. On May 25 1937 Christ the King Church was established taking the part of families from Thakode, Naravi and Madanthyar parishes. Rev. Fr. R.C. Goveas was the first Missionary Parish priest.
